The Road to Belmont

By Staff Reporter of the Sun | June 6, 2008

General admission to Belmont will be $10, and the Clubhouse will cost $20.

Trains:

The Long Island Rail Road runs many trains from Penn Station to the Park. Round-trip tickets are $11.

Do not buy grandstand tickets on the train — one year, there were people selling bogus admissions to the Park on the train. Here are the rules, according the MTA:

o Buy round-trip Belmont Park tickets in advance

o Listen for boarding announcements for trains to and from Belmont Park

o Look for LIRR personnel who will be available to assist you

o No alcohol allowed on LIRR trains

o No alcohol allowed into Belmont Park

o Coolers and bags are subject to search

o After the Stakes, wait times range between 15 minutes and 2 hours depending on attendance level
