Hermès Enters The Downtown Luxury Scene

By Staff Reporter of the Sun | June 19, 2007

With the growing number of luxury goods purveyors heading downtown, Wall Street is turning into a shopper's paradise. On Thursday, Hermès will open the doors to its new 4,000-square-foot location at 15 Broad Street, across from the New York Stock Exchange. The store will carry merchandise from all of Hermès's 14 categories, including leather accessories, silk ties, scarves, and ready to wear clothing for men and women, as well as home furnishings and other items to be available exclusively at the new location.

The modernist space was designed by Rena Dumas of the Paris-based firm RDAI. The interior will include Greque glass lighting fixtures from the brand's flagship store in Paris, along with mosaic stone floors and cherry woodwork.

Hermés will soon be in good company when the British men's clothing brand Thomas Pink opens its fourth New York store at 25 Wall Street on Monday. Tiffany & Co. plans to open a 7,600-square-foot store at 63 Wall Street this fall.
