A summer weekend spent idling as a guest of gracious hosts calls for a properly thoughtful note of thanks. But while e-mail and even text messages are increasingly becoming the preferred means of communicating gratitude, few occasions seem to call for the personal touch of a note written by hand more than days of dining and entertainment at another's expense. For those seeking seasonal stationery, classic paper goods companies such as Mrs. John L. Strong and Dempsey & Carroll offer elegant, summery designs — pastel-tone flip-flops and embossed lawn chairs will prove hard to resist — on superior-quality stock. High-end jewelry and accessories companies such as Cartier and Vera Bradley have also gotten in on the paper trail.
