Tumi Courts The Ladies

By PIA CATTON | November 27, 2007

Known for its reliable, heavy-duty luggage, Tumi is edging into the women's handbag market. The brand's new shop on Madison Avenue is dedicated to a debut collection of leather and fabric bags designed by executive creative director David Chu. The retail space is a departure from other Tumi shops located in transit hubs such as Rockefeller Center and Grand Central Terminal. Though some luggage is included, the focus is on accessories. The nylon Voyager collection ($75 to $495) aims for a sporty traveler.
