Mr. Bissell is also the author of the memoir “Chasing the Sea: Lost Among the Ghosts of Empire in Central Asia” (Pantheon). He is joined by Patrick Ryan, whose debut novel, “Send Me” (Dial Press), follows a single mother raising four children over 30 years.
