COLD FACTS Before spring sweeps up the final breaths of chill in New York, two authors familiar with cold weather will read from their work. Jill Fredston reads from her book, “Snowstruck: In the Grip of Avalanches” (Harcourt) and Mariana Gosnell reads from “Ice: The Nature, the History, and the Uses of an Astonishing Substance” (Knopf ).
