LANDMARK LECTURE
The architecture critic for the New Yorker, Paul Goldberger, gives a lecture on the impact of the city’s 40-year-old landmarks law. Mr. Goldberger is also the dean of Parsons School of Design. AMERICAN WOMEN
Two Korean-American writers, novelist Susan Choi and poet Suji Kwock Kim, read from and discuss their work as it relates to immigration. Ms. Choi is the author of “American Woman” (HarperCollins), which was a finalist for the 2004 Pulitzer Prize. COMICS CHAT
Leaders in the world of graphic novels discuss the state of the industry. Participants include the creator of a new comics adaptation of Franz Kafka’s “The Metamorphosis” (Crown), Peter Kuper; the editor of “Peanuts: The Art of Charles M. Schulz” (Pantheon) and other anthologies, Chip Kidd; the author of the “Hutch Owen” series (Top Shelf), Tom Hart; the creator of “Take-Out Comics,” Raina Telgemeier,and a former editor of DC Comics, Charles Kochman. The co-editor of “Arguing Comics: Literary Masters on a Popular Medium” (University Press of Mississippi), Kent Worcester, moderates the discussion, which is co-presented with the Museum of Comic and Cartoon Art.
