A LIFE IN YIDDISH Actress Mina Bern’s one-woman show tells her life story, from her childhood in Poland to her experiences as a traveling performer touring Eastern Europe, the Soviet Union, Israel, and America. The performance, which includes songs and stories in English and Yiddish, is a presentation of the Folksbiene Yiddish Theater. LEWINSKY LAUGHS “Monica! The Musical” harks back to the Clinton era, asking, “Exactly how did something this ridiculous happen? WAR AND ‘WOOD’ Actor Samuel Calderon was playing a soldier in a play at the Haifa Theater in Israel when the Yom Kippur War broke out in 1973. He was soon drafted to fight, where he befriended a soldier who had the same name as the character he had portrayed onstage. It took Mr. Calderon two decades to feel comfortable sharing his experiences. The result is “Knock on Wood,” which has its American premiere this weekend. Ruth Dytches directs.
