IN PRAISE OF POE Poefest, a festival of new plays “celebrating the spirit of Edgar Allan Poe” – from musicals to monologues – kicks off.The festival features seven different programs, each of which comprises one to three presentations. Each evening of the festival will begin with a reading of one of Poe’s works. Today through Sunday, January 29, Monday-Wednesday, 7 p.m., Thursday, 8 and 10 p.m., Friday, 8 and 10:30 p.m., Saturday, 2, 4:30, 8, and 10:30 p.m., Sunday, 2, 4:30, and 7 p.m., Metropolitan Playhouse, 220 E. 4th St., between avenues A and B, 212-995-5302, $15 general, $10 children under 12. GROUP THERAPY In “Let’s Play Doctor,” artist and performer Lisa Levy plays a psychotherapist experimenting with “public psychoanalysis” on her audience. She and her onstage sidekick conduct tests, deconstruct the psyches of celebrities, and offer advice.
