An anti-subsidy watchdog group is calling for an audit of city rent credits given to the New York Yankees, claiming the organization improperly sought rent forgiveness for tens of thousands of dollars in questionable expenses. The group, Good Jobs New York, yesterday released documents acquired through freedom of information requests showing the Yankees submitted receipts to the city for items such as crystal baseballs and bar tabs as part of a rent credit for expenses related to the new stadium. A spokeswoman for the Yankees said in a statement that the receipts were misleading, as many of the expenses were not taken as a rental credit.
