Time for Spring
Guests showed school pride at New York University Medical Center’s gala on Tuesday, even though most of them wouldn’t admit they’d worn violet to coordinate with the school’s colors. “This isn’t purple, it’s blue,” Klara Silverstein, an honoree with her husband Larry, said.
“My husband picked it. I wanted to wear red,” Ann Myssiorek said.
Women showed more pride than the men: The appointed dean of the university’s school of medicine and hospitals center, Dr. Robert Grossman, was lucky to be standing next to his wife Elisabeth Cohen, who wore a Christian Lacroix violet gown. His outgoing predecessor, Dr. Robert Glickman, had no such luck: his wife, Mary, wore orange. Perhaps he didn’t want to confuse loyalties, since his alma mater is Amherst. Another thought: Given his accomplishments at the university, he had nothing to prove.
