On April 24, the Bulgari flagship store will reopen in a new space that emphasizes the brand’s use of Roman motifs and coins in its jewelry collections. “We have drawn inspiration for over a century from Roman art and culture,” the chief executive officer of Bulgari, Francesco Trapani, said.
The 7,000-square-foot store has been expanded to three stories from two and is connected via a staircase with backlit steps. Upon entering the store, shoppers can traipse along Margaritelli wood flooring imported from Italy and head to the precious jewels or browse through Bulgari’s contemporary jewelry lines and watches.
Handbags — including the Twist Extreme ($19,500) and the Twist Pouchette ($16,600) — are on the upper floors. For the opening, Bulgari has created three limited-edition handbag styles (five of each were made) and two necklaces styles (50 of each were made).
The store reopens within days of the opening of the Greek and Roman galleries at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a coincidence that provided Mr. Trapani with a natural sponsorship opportunity.
