Mayor Bloomberg today addressed the issue of Governor Spitzer’s link to a prostitution ring for the first time, but declined to say whether the embattled Mr. Spitzer should resign.
“I did talk to Governor Spitzer this morning and I told him my thoughts were with him,” Mr. Bloomberg told reporters after an event at the New York Public Library in Midtown.
The mayor did not elaborate on his discussions with the governor, saying they were “private conversations.” He did say that he offered to give the governor advice on his situation.
Mr. Bloomberg reiterated his sympathy before leaving the building, saying: “I did wish him all the best and told him that I was thinking about him and his family.”
