P2
R, 98 minutes

In this claustrophobic thriller by Franck Khalfoun, ambitious young executive Angela Bridges (Rachel Nichols) is working late on Christmas Eve before she leaves for her family’s holiday party. But when she reaches the dark and deserted parking garage, her car won’t start. When friendly security guard Thomas (Wes Bentley) offers to help, Angela nervously accepts. After a failed attempt to start her car, he invites her to stay and share a small Christmas dinner he’s preparing in the garage’s office, but she laughs it off. But this is no laughing matter. Thomas has been watching her closely for months. His dinner invitation is not optional. If Angela wants to live to see Christmas morning, she must find a way to escape from level P2 of the parking garage

CHOKING MAN
Unrated, 85 minutes

Jorge (Octavio Gomez Berrios) is a morbidly shy Ecuadorian dishwasher toiling away in a shabby Queens diner run by Rick (Mandy Patinkin). He works all day in the shadow of the Heimlich Maneuver instruction poster that hangs in the diner kitchen. From his solitary corner, Jorge pines for a bond with the new waitress, Amy (Eugenia Yuan). On the job, Jorge is tormented by his coworker Jerry (Aaron Paul), and at home in Harlem, he’s under the psychological control of his domineering roommate. Steve Barron’s film examines the feeling of claustrophobia and almost literal asphyxiation that some immigrants experience as they struggle to find a purpose in a huge country.
