BROWN STUDENT WINS WALTER READE TRAILER CONTEST
Chris Smith of Brown University has won the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s Student Trailer Competition. In addition to having his trailer shown before every Film Society screening for the next two years, Mr. Smith will receive a check for $5,000 and a trip to New York City for the trailer’s premiere. His entry was selected following a nationwide competition open to all enrolled college students.

The Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College has announced the recipients of its eighth annual award for curatorial excellence. They are Kathy Halbreich, director of the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, and Mari Carmen Ramirez, Wortham Curator of Latin American Art at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. The award honors signal contributions to exhibition practice and the development of the profession of curating. … MASS MoCA curator Laura Steward Heon has been appointed director and curator of SITE Santa Fe. She takes the post in June. … Harvard has awarded its eighth biennial Veronica Rudge Green Prize in Urban Design to the ancient north Syrian city of Aleppo. The $35,000 prize, to be awarded to Aleppo mayor, Maan Chibli, on April 13, honors the rehabilitation of Aleppo’s historic city center, a 15-year undertaking overseen by the German Technical Cooperation. … The American Center Foundation has awarded $5,000 grants from its Fund for Arts Research to Tumelo Mosaka (curator at the Brooklyn Museum) and Lydia Yee (senior curator, Bronx Museum of Art) for travel and research around the world. The two were among the 15 curators and other arts professionals to receive funding.
