FILM FESTIVAL SLATE ANNOUNCED The full line-up for the Film Society of Lincoln Center’s 42nd New York Film Festival has been announced. In all, 25 films and 8 special screenings will be shown between October 1 and October 17.
Highlights include a restored copy of Samuel Fuller’s 1980 World War II film, “The Big Red One”; Ingmar Bergman’s “Saraband”; Jean-Luc Godard’s new film “Notre Musique”; Hou Hsiaohsien’s “Cafe Lumiere”; Mike Leigh’s “Vera Drake”; Eric Rohmer’s “Triple Agent”; and Todd Solondz’s “Palindromes.” Special Screenings will include the new documentary by Ken Burns, “Unforgivable Blackness: the Rise and Fall of Jack Johnson.”
“The Big Red One” and “Notre Musique” screened at this year’s Cannes festival. “Cafe Lumiere” and “Vera Drake” will premiere next week at the Venice Film Festival. “Saraband” has not yet screened anywhere else.
