Broadway Grosses Reach New High

Broadway grosses reached a new high — $939 million — during the 2006–07 season, the League of American Theatres and Producers announced yesterday. In its year-end results, the League reported that grosses increased 8.9% from the previous year’s $861 million. The number of paid attendees, 12.311 million, rose to 2.6% from last season. Thirty-five new productions, including 12 musicals, 11 plays, 5 musical revivals, and 7 play revivals, appeared on Broadway stages. The official season ended May 27.
