The New York Foundation for the Arts awarded its annual fellowships to 124 emerging New York artists, the foundation announced yesterday. The fellowships, which provide unrestricted grants of $7,000 each, cover a broad range of artistic disciplines, including computer arts, poetry, and sculpture. They are selected by peer panels within each discipline. Previous winners include Spike Lee, Tony Kushner, Julie Taymor, and Todd Haynes.
