PaceWildenstein will open a gallery in Beijing on August 8, the New York Times reported today. The first major Manhattan art galley to open a branch in Beijing, PaceWildenstein, which maintains three galleries in Manhattan, will funnel $20 million into the project. The gallery, which will be designed by architect Richard Gluckman, will be called Pace Beijing and will open in advance of the Summer Olympics being held there. Among other Chinese artists, PaceWildenstein represents Zhang Huan, who will be part of Pace Beijing’s inaugural show. Mr. Zhang will be the subject of a two-venue exhibition at PaceWildenstein’s two Chelsea galleries beginning May 9.
