Ron Currie Jr. Wins NYPL Fiction Prize

Ron Currie Jr. was named the winner of the Young Lions Fiction Award for his novel “God Is Dead” at a ceremony at the New York Public Library last night.
The award, worth $10,000, has been given annually since 2001 to a writer under 35. Actors Ethan Hawke. Amanda Peet, Brian O’Byrne, and Michael Shannon read selections from the finalists’ work. Previous winners include Uzodinma Iweala, for “Beasts of No Nation”; Anthony Doerr, for “The Shell Collector”; Jonathan Safran Foer, for “Everything Is Illuminated”; Colson Whitehead, for “John Henry Days,” and Mark Z. Danielewski, for “House of Leaves.”
