‘Simpsons’ To Return for 20th Season

The Fox network announced Tuesday that it has ordered a 20th season of “The Simpsons,” which will tie the cartoon with “Gunsmoke” as the longest-running series in the history of prime-time television.

“The Simpsons” is the longest-running prime-time animated series in history and the longest-running comedy series currently on television, with more than 400 episodes in the can. Matt Groening’s groundbreaking series has won a Peabody Award and 23 Emmy Awards.
