Whoopi Goldberg was introduced as the latest co-host of “The View” yesterday, joining Barbara Walters, Joy Behar, and Elisabeth Hasselbeck on the panel of ABC’s daytime show. Ms. Goldberg replaces Rosie O’Donnell, who ended her contentious tenure in May.
Ms. Goldberg, who has won an Oscar, Emmy, Grammy, and Tony in her career, received a personal endorsement from Ms. O’Donnell, whose time with the show was marked by a much-publicized feud with New York real estate magnate Donald Trump and debates with co-host Ms. Hasselbeck, often Ms. O’Donnell’s ideological opposite. Ratings reached new highs, however.
“Whoopi is fantastic in every way. She’s perfect for the job. She’s amazing and one of my favorites,” Ms. O’Donnell said in a statement.
