The private-equity firm run by Henry Kravis and George Roberts, KKR & Co., plans to go public by the end of the year as part of the purchase of its Amsterdam-listed buyout fund.
The firm will buy KKR Private Equity Investors LP using new shares that will list on the New York Stock Exchange, the companies said yesterday in a statement. The New York-based firm won’t sell shares as part of the transaction.
KKR’s non-traditional route to going public comes amid the worst market for IPOs in four years and after debt funding for buyouts dried up.
The offering follows IPOs by competitors including Blackstone Group LP, manager of the world’s largest buyout fund.
