SUMMER SWIRLS As Americans meticulously record the monuments, landscapes, and family gatherings of their summer vacations, a Chelsea gallery turns its attention to the abstract, exhibiting photographs that challenge perceptions of everyday sights, such as signs and peeling paint, rather than catalog them. Above, Ralston Crawford’s ‘Torn Signs FM’ (1960s). At left, Aaron Siskind’s ‘Chicago 30’ (1949). Through Saturday, July 2, Thursday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Alan Klotz Gallery, 511 W. 25th St., 212-741-4764, free.
