BROOKLYN SHOTS The winning photographs of the “My Brooklyn” contest, which capture the borough from Canarsie to Coney Island, will be on display at the Brooklyn Public Library through this weekend. AND THE WINNER IS … The Amsterdam Whitney Gallery is host to the Chelsea Global Showcase Competition, a three-week exhibition showcasing 30 artists, including Alise Bennett, Steven Cook, and Vecchia Famiglia. The show opens with a champagne reception. THE ULTIMATE INSIDER Christie’s presents its fifth annual Insider Art exhibition featuring its own employees’ work. The show includes paintings, photographs, ceramics, sculpture, and video art by more than 40 staff members of the auction house. SURFING SAFARI Leroy Grannis’s photographs of the nascent surf culture during the 1960s and 1970s are on display at Bonni Benrubi Gallery. Along with the expected spectacular waves, he captures surfers out of the water, strolling the beach, and posing with their colorful boards.
