CHILD’S PLAY The group photography show “When We Were Young” explores childhood memory, from merry-gorounds to bug bites. The exhibit includes the work of 30 photographers working from the 1970s to the present, including Diane Arbus, August Sander, Jona Frank, Jerry Dantzic, and Joseph Szabo. STATE DEPARTMENT The gallery White Box presents “Another Expo,” curated by Shinya Watanabe. It includes work from artists from Tokyo, Sarajevo, and Okinawa whose work comments on world politics and the nation-state. FACES OF CHINA Liu Zheng’s black-andwhite photographs of groups from Chinese society he considers “archetypal Chinese figures” – including coal miners, opera performers, and transsexuals – are on display in “The Chinese.” Mr. Zheng worked as a photographer for the Chinese newspaper Gongren Ribao during the 1990s.
