STATE DEPARTMENT The gallery White Box presents “Another Expo,” curated by Shinya Watanabe. It includes work from artists from Tokyo, Sarajevo, and Okinawa whose work comments on world politics and the nation-state. LET IT SNOW An exhibit closing Wednesday at the New York Academy of Sciences provides a refreshing look at all things snowy.”One of a Kind: In Homage to ‘Snowflake’ Bentley” celebrates the work of Wilson Bentley, a Vermont farmer who spent a lifetime studying snow crystals. Bentley (1865-1931) was the first to photograph a single snowflake. The show features Bentley’s own work and that of other artists who have focused on the flakes and flurries of winter. Through Wednesday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m., New York Academy of Sciences, 2 E. 63rd St., between Madison and Fifth avenues, 212-838-0230, free.


OIL AND WATERCOLORS The new Delgado-Tomei Gallery opened its doors with “Figuratively Speaking,” a group exhibit exploring the craft of representational painting. Featured local artists include Tim Okamura, Ken Millington, Joe Adolphe, Bob Moody, and Jerome Lagarrigue. Through Saturday, September 10, Friday-Sunday, 1-6 p.m., Delgado-Tomei Gallery, 118 N. 11th St. at Berry Street, third floor, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, 718-422-0282, free.
