THE WAVE The Black & White Gallery presents “Wave,” a timely outdoor exhibit by Czech and Canadian artist Michael Krondl, who is known for his works on billboards. Viewers stand under two-story digital photographs of a gigantic wave about to crash. Through Monday, November 28, Friday-Monday, noon-6 p.m., Black & White Gallery, 483 Driggs Ave., between N. 9th and N. 10th streets, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, 718-599-8775, free.


ON THE RIVER The late artist Robert Smithson’s work, “Floating Island To Travel Around Manhattan Island,” is realized by the Whitney Museum and the arts organization Minetta Brook. The public art piece consists of a 30-by-90-foot barge with earth, rocks, trees, and shrubs, which will be towed daily by a tugboat on the Hudson and East rivers. After the run, the trees from the island will be planted in Central Park. Through Sunday, 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Pier 46, Hudson River Park at Charles and West streets, 212-431-7165, free.
