PAINTED PORTRAITS “The Painted Spirit,” a new show of portraits by American painter Robert Henri (1865-1929), includes more than 35 paintings made between 1902 and 1928. The portraits on view were painted during Henri’s travels to Spain, Ireland, and around America. Some are on view publicly for the first time. MAJOR MARKS The new exhibit “Marks of Distinction” celebrates the 20th anniversary of Dartmouth University’s Hood Museum of Art. The show includes work from 200 years of American drawings and watercolors. Artists whose work is on view include Mary Cassatt, John James Audubon, Winslow Homer, Benjamin West, James McNeill Whistler, Jackson Pollock, Agnes Martin, Eva Hesse, John Singer Sargent, Jacob Lawrence, Romare Bearden, and Lee Bontecou.
