STREET SCENES Harry Callahan used a long lens to snap photographs of unaware women in Chicago in 1950. The result was a series of tightly framed black-and-white photographs capturing private moments up close. “Women Lost in Thought” is now on view at Danziger Projects. Callahan died in 1999. Through Sunday, January 15, Wednesday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., Danziger Projects, 521 W. 26th St., between Tenth and Eleventh avenues, 212-629-6778, free.


FAMILY PORTRAITS Nicholas Nixon’s black-and-white photographs are on display in “Life and Times.” The exhibit includes the entire “Brown Sisters” series to date. Mr. Nixon has gathered the four sisters together for a yearly portrait since 1975, grouping them in the same order for an 8-inch-by-10-inch photograph. (The Museum of Modern Art is concurrently exhibiting the complete series.) The exhibit also features other portraits as well as cityscapes of Boston and New York from 1974 and 2005.
