BIRDS ON THE BRAIN Melissa Stern’s sculpture installation “Birdland” is on display this weekend. The 24 clay sculptures, hybrid creatures of men and birds, stand among 600 poppies. The creatures’ eyes are taxidermized and hand-painted; most came from reptiles or mammals. Friday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., 143 W. 20th St., between Sixth and Seventh avenues, 917-549-7109, free.
