THE HUNGER FOR MORE The Chelsea Art Museum presents the opening of “The Food Show: The Hungry Eye,” a group exhibit of works that venture beyond the representation of food as still life to explore with irony and humor the human preoccupation with food. Featured artists include Jonathan Seliger, Priscilla Monge, Will Cotton, and Janet Fish. Robert Edelman and Gina Fiore are curators of the show. A panel discussion, moderated by a book and restaurant critic, William Grimes, is tomorrow. UNDER PRESSURE Peer Gallery presents the opening of “Melting Point,” an exhibit of 16 large-scale pigment prints by Jeff Jacobson, which, through visual anomalies, depict personal tragedy and global discord. LATE NIGHT The Whitney Museum of Art remains open until 10:30 p.m. to celebrate “For Those Who Know What To Look For,” a new campaign featuring work by British artists Warren du Preez and Nick Thornton-Jones.
