WOMEN FOR WOMEN


The Women’s Project honors Adrien Arpel, Mariska Hargitay, Caroline Hirsch, Emily Mann, and Frances Sternhagen at its Roaring 20th Annual Gala. Actress Donna Murphy serves as hostess. HONORING ARTHUR MILLER


The first Anne Frank Human Writes Award, honoring a body of work that expresses the “ideals which have become synonymous with Anne Frank, the writer,” will go to the late Arthur Miller. At the gala ceremony, there will be readings from the diary along with performances by Cyndi Lauper, Michael Feinstein, and others. The event’s chairmen include President and Senator Clinton, Natalie Portman, Senator Obama, and Lou Reed. Proceeds go to the Anne Frank Center USA. HELP FOR HALE HOUSE


A gala benefit for Hale House celebrates state Attorney General Eliot Spitzer; the chairman of the organization’s board of directors, Zachary Carter, and celebrity mothers including Cookie Johnson, Vanessa Williams, and singer Angie Stone. Proceeds from the black-tie Mother Hale Awards for Caring go to the nonprofit group’s work with children in Harlem. SNAPSHOT SOIREE


A live auction of large-scale Polaroid prints benefits the nonprofit organization Free Arts NYC. Chuck Close, Julian Schnabel, and William Wegman are among the 15 artists who have contributed one-of-a-kind images. Free Arts provides art training and materials to at-risk children and their families.
