RACE FOR THE DISABLED About 70 veterans who have lost one or more limbs in Afghanistan or Iraq come to New York from Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington D.C. to participate in the 5K Hope and Possibility Race. Disabled New York City school kids and a few thousand non-disabled adults join the wounded war veterans. Proceeds go to the Achilles Track Club, which encourages disabled people to run in long-distance races alongside the general public. Sunday, 8:30 a.m., Central Park, East Meadow, 212-354-0300, $20 advanced registration, $30 day of the race. Note: free kids fun run takes place at 10:30 a.m.
THE RIGHT KEYS To raise money to purchase two new Steinway pianos for the Greenwich House Music School, Tony award winners Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx present “Avenue Q Swings!” Singing jazz and classical songs are Broadway artists Stephanie d’Abruzzo (“Avenue Q”), Karen Mason (“Mamma Mia!”, “Sunset Boulevard”), Sally Mayes (a Tony nominee for “She Loves Me”), and Christine Pedi (“Forbidden Broadway”).
