JAZZ DOWNTOWN Bands from Yo La Tengo to the Little Huey Creative Music Orchestra perform in a jazz concert to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Special guests include New Orleans natives Kidd Jordan, Alvin Fielder, and Clyde Kerr. Steve Buscemi, Steve Dalachinsky, and Patricia Nicholson are the masters of ceremonies. NEWBORN CARE The 20th annual Child of Peace Award Dinner honors Diane and James Quinn and Frances Hardart for their philanthropic work. Proceeds benefit the Maternity Services Program of Catholic Home Bureau, which provides resources for more than 1,000 pregnant women each year.
