SASSY ASSASSINATION
Sarah Vowell reads from her new essay collection “Assassination Vacation” (Simon & Schuster), in which visits to sites associated with the assassinations of presidents Lincoln, Garfield, and McKinley lead to musings on history and culture. Ms. Vowell’s dis tinct voice is well-known to listeners of “This American Life” – and more recently, to viewers of “The Incredibles,” in which Ms. Vowell provided the voice of the family’s teenage daughter. BROOKLYN MYSTERY
The author of the mystery novel “Red Hook” (St. Martin’s Minotaur), Gabriel Cohen, reads from his story of murder along the Gowanus Canal. He is joined at the “Crime Night” reading by Peter Blauner, the author of “The Last Good Day” (Warner).
