SASSY ASSASSINATION Sarah Vowell reads from her essay collection “Assassination Vacation” (Simon & Schuster), in which visits to sites associated with the assassinations of presidents Lincoln, Garfield, and McKinley lead to musings on history and culture. Ms. Vowell’s distinct voice is well-known to listeners of “This American Life” – and more recently, to viewers of “The Incredibles,” in which Ms. Vowell provided the voice of the family’s teenage daughter. Tonight, 7 p.m., Borders Books Time-Warner Center, 10 Columbus Circle, Broadway at 60th Street, 212-823-9775, free.
