ARTS FOR A CAUSE “Hot Sauce,” a silent art auction to benefit the Village Kids Nursery scholarship fund, is presented by the Kortawata Arts project. The scholarship fund helps provide assistance to lower-income families who wish to send their children to the school. The work of more than 15 emerging artists is up for bidding. An eclectic linuep of featured performers includes the band Damian Quinones Y Su Conjunto, and poet Aracelis Girmay, who reads form her new collection,”Teeth”(Curbstone). Light refreshments are served. FILM

CLASSIC HITCHCOCK The 2007 HBO Bryant Park Summer Film Festival concludes with a screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s “Psycho” (1960). In the classic thriller, a woman on the run, played by actress Janet Leigh, checks into the remote Bates Motel. There, she encounters the motel’s owner, played by Anthony Perkins at his creepy best, and meets a grisly fate. Tonight, 5 p.m., film begins at sunset (8–9 p.m.), Bryant Park, lawn, between 40th and 42nd streets, and Fifth and Sixth avenues, 212-768-4242, free.

ACTION! The Korean Cultural Service NY presents a screening and discussion of Hong Sang-soo’s “Woman on the Beach” (2006). The film, which earned invitations to several film festivals, including New York and Berlin, follows a film director (Seung-woo kim) who is trying to complete a script. He stumbles into relationships with two women he meets at an off-season resort. His destructive behavior generates material for his new film. An award-winning filmmaker, Hyun-Ock Im, introduces the film and leads the discussion. Thursday, 6:30 p.m., Korean Cultural Service NY, sixth floor, 460 Park Ave. at 57th Street, 212-759-9550, free.

A VISUAL MEMOIR “Love and Loss: A Video Trilogy by Neil Goldberg” is a document of the artist’s reflections on aging, mourning, and death concerning his family. Mr. Goldberg features his family members in his videos. They include: “My Parents Read Dreams I’ve Had About Them” (1998), in which Mr. Goldberg has his parents read autobiographical transcripts. In “A System for Writing Thank You Notes”(2001), Mr. Goldberg’s now-widowed father talks about his own approach to answering condolence notes and sympathy greetings, and in “My Father Breathing Into aMirror” (2006), Mr. Goldberg’s father is seen in a forest in autumn, meditating on his life. The trilogy is copresented by the Jewish Museum and the National Jewish Archive of Broadcasting. BACKPACKS IN AUGUST The Black August Hip-Hop Project celebrates its 10th anniversary with a concert. Founded in 1997, the project was created as a way to support the global development of hip-hop culture and promote awareness of social and political issues. Featured guests Mos Def and Talib Kweli perform selections from their solo efforts and from their stint as the duo Black Star. An emerging rap star Saigon, known to fans of the HBO series “Entourage,” on which he plays an aspiring rapper of the same name, is also featured. DJs Evil Dee and D-Nice spin a range of classics and and chart-topping hip-hop. Sunday, 8 p.m., Nokia Theater, 1515 Broadway at 44th Street, 212-930-1940, $30–$35.

BORICUA’S LAMENT El Museo del Barrio presents a concert given by the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Americas. Conductor Alondra de la Parra leads the orchestra in a program that includes Beethoven’s symphony no. 7., opus 92. Among the featured performers is a tenor from Puerto Rico, Joel Prieto, who sings arias by Mozart and selections by composer Rafael Hernandez.
