UNDER THE STARS New Yorkers can kick up their heels at Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Night Swing series. Upcoming musical guests include the Stardusters Big Band presenting a tribute to Artie Shaw (Tomorrow), the Village People, as part of Lincoln Center’s gay pride celebration (Wednesday), and Terrance Simien and the Zydeco Experience (Friday). Each installment of the series begins with a 45-minute dance lesson taught by an expert. All dances: 6:30 p.m. lesson, 7:30 p.m. music and dancing, Lincoln Center, Josie Robertson Plaza, Broadway and 64th Street, 212-721-6500, $15.
BALLET BESTS Dancers from 19 countries go for the gold at the five-day New York International Ballet Competition, which culminates in an awards ceremony and gala performance.
