BEAT DOWN For her new performance piece “Beat It,” artist Erin McMonagle conducts drop-in workshops on the choreography from the 1983 Michael Jackson video of the same name. After a week of workshops, a final event invites anyone who wants to show off their new skills to participate in a large group performance. Today through Monday, July 4, today and tomorrow, 2-10 p.m., Wednesday-Friday, noon-7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday, July 4, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Chashama, 217 E. 42nd St., between Second and Third avenues, 212-391-8152, free.
