BAREFOOT IN THE PARK La Cumbiamba eNYe leads Wave Hill visitors in dancing traditional cumbia, puya, and mapale to the tune of Afro-Colombian music traditionally played in open-air parties. The group’s instruments are made from plants such as cactus, trees, and gourds. Participants dance barefoot in a public garden overlooking the Hudson River. Tonight, 6:30-8 p.m., Wave Hill, West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, Bronx, 718-549-3200, $4 general, $2 seniors and students, free for children under 6.
VERTIGO MOVES The Israel-based Vertigo Dance Company presents the American premiere of “Birth of the Phoenix.” The piece, which will be performed outdoors, is meant to highlight the relationship between human beings and their environment. The performance will be preceded by a picnic (6:30 p.m.). Tonight and tomorrow, 8:30 p.m., Riverside Park, 73rd Street at the Hudson River, 646-505-5708, $10.
