PRETTY PAAS
The author of “My Friend Rabbit” (Roaring Brook), Eric Rohmann, reads from his Caldecott Award-winning children’s book at an Easter celebration. The Easter-decoration company PAAS marks its 125th anniversary by presenting a commemorative egg painted by Mr. Rohmann (Friday, 4-6 p.m., Books of Wonder, 18 W. 18th St., between Fifth and Sixth avenues, 212-989-3270, free). Also at Books of Wonder this weekend: Author Stoo Hample celebrates the rerelease of his 1961 children’s book “The Silly Book” (Candlewick) with a reading and signing (Saturday, noon-2 p.m.).
NEST EGGS
Children can color eggs, build a nest, and listen to seasonal stories at an Easter workshop at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. Each child should bring two hard-boiled eggs. OUTDOOR CELEBRATION
Central Park is the scene for an Easter egg extravaganza: There’s an egg hunt, egg dyeing, dancing, a petting zoo, an obstacle course, and performances by the National Circus Project and Puppets in the Park. Saturday, 11 a.m.-3 p.m., Central Park, enter at 72nd Street, call 311, free.
