FESTIVE BOOKS The authors of some Christmas books for children gather to read from and sign their books. Participants include Wendell and Florence Minor, who sign their first picture book collaboration, “Christmas Tree!” (Katherine Tegen); author Steven Kroll and illustrator Michael Garland present their book “Pooch on the Loose: A Christmas Adventure” (Marshall Cavendish Children’s Books); “paper engineer” Chuck Fischer presents “Christmas in New York: A Pop-Up Book” (Bulfinch), and Tony Abbott reads from his first hardcover book for young readers, “Kringle” (Scholastic). BEAD BUSINESS Two South African beaders create handmade animals, dolls, and jewelry for MonkeyBiz, a nonprofit organization that buys beaded products from Africa to benefit local communities.
