MAGI MAGIC The Little Orchestra Society, now in its 26th season, curates interactive concerts for children. Up next is Gian Carlo Menotti’s children’s opera “Amahl and the Night Visitors.” The Christmas story focuses on one evening during the journey of the three Magi – when they stop at the home of a poor woman and her optimistic crippled son. The production includes a menagerie of live animals. Saturday, 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., Lincoln Center, Avery Fisher Hall, 65th Street and Columbus Avenue, 212-971-9500, $10-$50.
SKELETON CREW The New Museum’s family day offers children a lesson in the process of creating “skeletons,” as it relates to the ongoing exhibit of work by Brian Jungen.Families can then create skeleton models of endangered species using recyclable materials. The event is recommended for families with children between 7 and 14. Saturday, 1-3 p.m., New Museum of Contemporary Art, 556 W. 22nd St. at Eleventh Avenue, 212-219-1222 ext. 235, $6 general, $3 seniors and students, free for children under 18, reservations recommended.
