THIS MAGI MOMENT El Museo del Barrio’s 29th annual Three Kings’ Day parade features children from across the city marching alongside live camels, donkeys, sheep, floats, musicians, and large colorful puppets representing the Three Kings. After the parade, children convene at the museum to enjoy a performance by a Mexican dance troupe. Friday, 10 a.m., starts at 106th Street and Fifth Avenue, 212-831-7272, free.
JUMP AND SING Children’s performer Allison DeSalvo and her band perform an interactive concert of traditional and new songs. During the performance, children in the audience get to leap up and sing, dance, play instruments, act out stories with puppets, and make mural art. Saturday, 11 a.m., Riverside Church, 91 Claremont Ave., between 120th and 122nd streets, 212-870-6722, $5 general, $2 children.
REMEMBER 2006 Families can join in a book-making workshop to make a journal in which to document the new year. Participants should bring their own swatches of fabric to personalize the books. Saturday and Sunday, 1-4 p.m., South Street Seaport Museum, 12 Fulton St. at Front Street, 212-748-8758, free with museum admission, $8 general, $6 seniors and students, $4 children ages 5 to 12, free for members and children under 5.
PERENNIAL FAVORITE The repertory ensemble New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players presents a family-friendly version of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “H.M.S. Pinafore.” Before the performance, children take in a musical introduction and narrative summary of the show. The company’s artistic director, Albert Bergeret, serves as master of ceremonies. Saturday, 2 p.m., City Center, West 55th Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues, 212-581-1212, $40-$86 general, children 12 and under are half price.
DEEDLE DEES’ TUNES At the Kid-Pa-Looza concert in Red Hook, families can enjoy an afternoon of silly songs. The Brooklyn band Deedle Deedle Dees – who perform goofy rock songs about Aaron Burr, John Wilkes Booth, and the perils of being “Scared By My Own Costume” – open the show. The group is followed by Audra Tsanos and her All-Star Band. Sunday, 3 p.m. doors open, 3:30 p.m. show, the Hook, 18 Commerce St., between Columbia and Richards streets, 718-797-3007, $15 a family.
