EXAMINING COLUMBIA


“Columbia Unbecoming,” the documentary that prompted some of the uproar over Columbia University’s Department of Middle East and Asian Languages and Cultures, is screened tonight. In the film, Columbia students relate their accounts of feeling intimidated by professors they say have stifled pro-Israel opinions in the classroom. The film was produced by the David Project, whose president, Charles Jacobs, joins the film’s producer, Rachel Fish, and Columbia student Daniella Kahane for a discussion following the screening. PARIS ON SCREEN


The documentary “Daguerreotypes” (1975) follows the shopkeepers near filmmaker Agnes Varda’s home on Rue Daguerre in Paris. It is screened with “The Dead” (1960), a silent short film by Stan Brakhage, and Ms. Varda’s short “Les Dites Cariatides” (1982). The screening is part of an ongoing series featuring Paris on film, presented by the French Institute Alliance Francaise. Today, 12:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., Florence Gould Hall, 55 E. 59th St., between Park and Madison avenues, 212-355-6160, $9 general, $7 students. Note: The films are in French with English subtitles.


TIBETAN TRIO


The third documentary in John Bush’s “Yatra Trilogy,” “Vajra Sky,” is screened at the Rubin Museum of Art. Filmed in Central Tibet, it includes footage of temples, monasteries, and Buddhist festivals. Saturday and Sunday, 3 p.m., Rubin Museum of Art, 150 W. 17th St., between Sixth and Seventh avenues, 212-620-5000, $7 screening only, $10 screening with question-and-answer session.
