PICTURE SHOW IN THE PARK The Central Park Conservancy hosts the third annual Central Park Film Festival, in which movies inspired by Central Park are screened there. Tonight’s screening is the 1953 MGM musical “The Band Wagon,” starring Fred Astaire. Up next is the family flick “The Muppets Take Manhattan” (tomorrow). The festival concludes with the premiere of “Little Manhattan,” a romantic comedy starring young actor Josh Hutcherson (Saturday). All screenings begin at 8 p.m., Central Park, Rumsey Playfield, East 69th Street off Fifth Avenue, 212-310-6600, free.
VILLAGE PEOPLE Philip Hartman’s 1987 independent movie “No Picnic” is presented as part of the HOWL! Festival of East Village Arts. The film follows one musician on a quest for love during the 1980s in the East Village. A young Steve Buscemi makes an appearance. Tonight through Wednesday, 9 p.m., Two Boots Pioneer Theater, 155 E. 3rd St. at Avenue A, 212-591-0434, $9 general, $6.50 seniors, students, and members.
