GARBO THE QUEEN In celebration of the 100th anniversary of Greta Garbo’s birth, Scandinavia House presents the film series Forever Garbo. Up next: Garbo plays the title role in “Queen Christina” (1933), which follows the life of the 17th-century Swedish monarch. Known as King Christina (all Swedish rulers were known as King), she was crowned at age 18 and reigned for a decade. Tonight, 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., Saturday, 3 p.m., Scandinavia House, 58 Park Ave., between 37th and 38th streets, 212-879-9779, $8 general, $6 members.


SUAVE SANTA In “Le Pere Noel a les yeux bleus” (Santa Claus Has Blue Eyes) (1966), which screens as part of a series presented by the French Institute Alliance Francaise, an unemployed teenager discovers that wearing a Santa suit is a great way to meet girls. The film is followed by a screening of “Brigitte et Brigitte” (1966), in which two girls from the provinces come to Paris to seek their fortune. SHORTS FROM SPAIN ShortMetraje presents a screening of new short films from Spain.The first screening is preceded by a discussion with the curator of Short-Metraje, Marta Sanchez.The screening is part of the series Spanish Cinema Now. Tomorrow and Thursday, 6 p.m., Instituto Cervantes, 211-215 E. 49th St., between Second and Third avenues, 212-308-7720, free. Note: The films are in Spanish with English subtitles.


MORMON MOVIES The centerpiece of the Mormonsploitation Retrospective is “Trapped by the Mormons,” a campy new remake of the 1922 cult horror flick of the same name (Thursday through Wednesday, December 21, 9 p.m.).The series also includes “Wagon Master,” a Mormon Western, and Jared Hess’s “Peluca,” a short precursor to “Napoleon Dynamite.” Thursday through Wednesday, December 21, Two Boots Pioneer Theater, 155 E. 3rd St. at Avenue A, 212-591-0434, $52 for all eight movies, $9 individual screenings, $6.50 members.
