MISSISSIPPI MUSIC

PERGOLESI PROGRAM
The Choir of the Church of Saint Luke in the Fields presents “Pergolesi: A Portrait in Music,” a program of works by Italian composer Giovanni Battista Pergolesi. The program focuses on Pergolesi’s sacred music, including early works like “Confitebor tibi” and “Magnificat,” and his last work, the “Stabat Mater,” the most frequently printed single work of the 18th century. David Shuler directs the ensemble, which is accompanied by an orchestra playing period instruments. A lecture precedes the concert. JACK IS BACK
Folk singer Ramblin’ Jack Elliott performs his trademark blend of songs, jokes, and stories. Though he rarely performs in New York City, the weathered crooner was born in Brooklyn more than 70 years ago.
