YE OLDE TOP 40 Balladeers Linda Russell & Companie perform a program of songs that were popular in New York in the 1820s. The performance is first in a weekly summer series of periodmusic concerts held in the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum’s 18th-century landscaped garden. The series, which includes a wine and cheese reception, continues every Tuesday through the end of July and features a variety of period music. Tonight, 6-9 p.m., Mount Vernon Hotel Museum, 421 E. 61st St., between York and First avenues, 212-838-6878, $15 general, $7 children under 12, free for members and children under 4.
MIXED-UP ZAPPA The Ed Palermo Big Band plays the music of Frank Zappa using traditional big-band instruments to reinterpret Zappa’s large canon of kooky songs. Tomorrow, 8:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., Iridium Jazz Club, 1650 Broadway at 51st Street, 212-582-2121, $22.50 general, $10 minimum at tables, $5 minimum at the bar, half price for students at the door.
JEWISH WORSHIP The Leo Baeck Institute presents a program of Jewish liturgical music in the southern German tradition. Cantors Erik Cont zius and Bruce Halev are the featured soloists.
